Postdoctoral Associate

Summary

A Postdoctoral Associate position in the laboratory of Shinya Yamamoto in the Department of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine is available. Postdoctoral Associate will have a Ph.D. in Genetics, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience or related fields, and previous experiences using Drosophila melanogaster is highly preferred but not required. The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to drive and take ownership of their research project, design and perform biological experiments with rigor, work collaboratively with members within and outside of the lab, be highly organized and communicative, and maintain high work ethics.

Baylor College of Medicine typically follows similar to the NIH stipulated stipend guidelines for Postdoctoral Associates.

Job Duties

• Designs and conducts scientific experiments.
• Generates molecular and genetic tools.
• Maintains and organizes experimental resources.
• Collects and analyzes data, writes primary research and reviews manuscripts support grant proposal and grant report submission.
• Mentors other trainees (e.g. graduate students, undergraduate students, junior postdocs, research technicians).
• Participates in regulator laboratory and departmental meetings.
• Performs experiments proposed in a recently awarded NIH grant, R01-AG071557.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
• No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Genetics, Developmental Biology, Neuroscience or related fields.
• Experiences in working with fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster) is desired.
• Expertise in molecular biological, biochemical, cell biological techniques will be considered as an advantage.
• Has a strong publication record (at least one peer reviewed primary research article).
• Experience in presenting (poster, oral) at national or international meetings.
